The City of Watertown has an immediate opening within the Engineering Department. The Assistant City Engineer is a senior level of the Engineering series. This position reports directly to the City Engineer and requires oversight of the City’s Engineering staff, including design and construction for all City utility infrastructure projects. Supervision is exercised over subordinate engineering department personnel. This position differs from that of Civil Engineer II by virtue of its expanded scope and level of responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and 4 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
This is a competitive title in the classified civil service. Appointment will be on a
provisional basis only. To be eligible for permanent status, the individual accepting appointment will be required to pass a civil service exam and score among the top three.
